Jupiter

by Camryn Marie

Released 04/26/25

Intro by Gene Johns

To be honest, I struggled with choosing “Jupiter” as an Essie Country’s 21st Century Real Country Music Song of the Week. Is it real country? When I first heard the song, I wasn’t sure. For me, the lyrics lean more toward pop than country.

The more I listened to it, the pop-flavored single gradually seemed more like a contemporary country song with just a touch of pop, perfectly crafted with 21st-century real country musicality. So, I am comfortable calling this song country.

“Jupiter” is an example of how a song can challenge the boundaries of authentic country music. Clearly, this song isn’t traditional country music. However, genuine country music doesn’t have to fit the strict definition that I usually promote in my advocacy for true country music.

Maybe it was nineteen-year-old Camryn Marie’s enchanting voice influencing my decision. Her voice is pleasing to listen to. But it was the song’s overall country style musicality that won me over. It easily trumps most of the fake country music songs Billboard shamelessly ranks on its Hot Country Singles chart.

“Jupiter” is at the edge of the real country music universe. But it is a stellar song with enough characteristics of the country music world to earn a spot in the history of notable real country music songs chosen for Essie Country’s 21st Century Real Country Music Song of the Week series.

You don’t need to be in orbit around Jupiter to hear this week’s Essie Country’s 21st Century Real Country Music Song of the Week, “Jupiter,” by Camryn Marie. 1. I like the phrase " pop flavored" lol

Shes a little karaoke sound for me but nice to hear she keeps the country sound. Not sure i would say this is pop though 🤔
