I’m sure you recall the nursery rhyme “Jack and Jill.” You know, it begins like this:
Jack and Jill went up the hill
To fetch a pail of water
Jack fell down and broke his crown
And Jill came tumbling after
There are several claims about how the nursery rhyme originated, including one theory that suggests “Jack and Jill" satirizes King Charles I's attempt to raise taxes by lowering the volume of a "Jack" (1/8 pint) while keeping the tax rate the same, causing the "Gill" (1/4 pint) to "tumble after."
But maybe, just maybe, “Jack and Jill” is about the story that Emily Ann Roberts sings about in this week’s Essie Country’s 21st Century Real Country Music Song of the Week.
Emily Ann Roberts’ latest release, “Jack and Jill Daniel’s,” is country music at its best. Crafting an engaging song about a failed marriage and wrapping it around a nursery rhyme is clever. Adding Emily Ann’s flawless voice to the lyrics of this song is brilliant.
Nashville and the country music industry’s recent history of hearing, seeing, and speaking no real country music explains why this outstanding, authentic country song will keep Emily Ann’s “Jack and Jill Daniels” from climbing up to top of the Billboard Country Radio Top 40 Hits, like Jack climbed up to the top of the beanstalk.
The latest release from the 2015 season 9 runner-up on NBC’s “The Voice” is a guaranteed hit if only the country music industry executives and radio programmers weren’t asleep like Rip Van Winkle. Wake up, Nashville, you’re missing a fantastic opportunity to spotlight a country music Cinderella.
But “you” don’t need to climb a hill or a towering beanstalk to hear Emily Ann perform her latest release. You only need to click on the link below before midnight. If you wait until after midnight, you family vehicle might turn into a pumpkin. So go ahead, jump over the candlestick and click on the link below to hear:
