Zach Top is one of the hottest traditional country music artists in the country today. He broke through the gauntlet of fake country music with his song “I Never Lie,” making it onto Billboard’s Hot Country Top 40 chart in October of 2024, peaking at number 6.  The song also reached number 2 on the Country Airplay Chart. 


Additionally, he has been nominated for Country Music Association’s 2025 Male Vocalist of the Year, New Artist of the Year, Single of the Year for “I Never Lie,” and Song of the Year (again for “I Never Lie”). My vote is for Zach for all four of those awards! The CMA awards will air November 18th, at 8 pm on ABC.


Zach’s hit, “I Never Lie,” was featured as Essie Country’s 21st Century Real Country Music Song of the Week for the week 9-22-2024 through 9-28-2024. His songs “Busy Doing Nothin’,” and “Bad Luck,” were also an Essie Country Song of the Week in 2024.


This week’s Essie Country’s 21st Century Real Country Music Song of the Week, “Flip Flop” by Zach Top, will be part of the reason Zach will continue to have sellout crowds on his national tour on his way to becoming a legitimate country music superstar.


The cowriters of “Flip Flop” cleverly practiced a little euphemism in the lyrics of this song. It playfully implies the “b” word when it uses “beach,” and when it uses the word “back” after you expect it to rhyme with the word “ask,” you’re glad they kept it family-friendly. When you listen to “Flip Flop,” you will understand and appreciate their euphemism by using “flip flop” in lieu of the “f” word that some rap and some pop artists would no doubt use.

Greetings to fans of real country  music, and welcome to this week’s  Essie Country’s 21st Century Real  Country Music Song of the Week, for the week of 11/30/25 - 12/06/25 Watching it Rain by Jesse Raub Jr Released 05/24/2024 Intro by Gene Johns Who would have thought that repeating the phrase “watching it rain” fifteen times in a song would make it a great song? Yes, I counted them.
